WPSO-Canada provides safe spaces and opportunities for Afghan women and girls in Canada to improve their quality of life, integrate into Canadian society, and build their potential by accessing culturally appropriate services, knowledge, and support in their own languages.

Our Leadership Team

Wazhma Frogh is the Founder and Executive Director of WPSO-Canada. She is a human rights lawyer and peacebuilding strategist with more than two decades of experience advancing Women, Peace and Security, gender equality, and community-based leadership. Her work has included program design, organizational leadership, women’s networks, policy engagement, and support for newcomer integration and belonging in Canada

Saliha Amani Rasikh

Operations Head

Saliha Amani Rasikh is a human rights defender and advocate for women’s empowerment with more than 15 years of experience in administration and finance. She brings strong expertise in organizational operations, financial oversight, and community-based initiatives that promote justice, inclusion, and women’s rights.

Fauzia Rahimi Jamal

Board Member (President)

Fauzia Rahimi Jamal holds graduate and undergraduate degrees in Private Law and has more than 14 years of experience in research, evaluation, and capacity building. Her work has focused on gender, justice, development, and conflict-related issues, including support for women and human rights defenders across Asia and the Pacific.

Hanifa Omar

Board Member (Secretary)

Hanifa Omar is an academic, social worker, and advocate for women’s empowerment. She possesses extensive experience in education, gender advocacy, and community development. Her work is dedicated to supporting women, newcomers, and marginalized populations through both professional practice and volunteer engagement in Canada.

Tayeba Hashemy

Board Member (Treasurer)

Tayeba Hashemy is a human rights activist and researcher with over eight years of experience in peacebuilding, women’s rights, and conflict resolution. Her work focuses on education, gender equality, and economic empowerment for women, with a strong commitment to community-centered and lasting impact.
